West Pymble
The Vision
The Challenge
A bold and vibrant front and rear outdoor space to complement the newly renovated home. One that lends from classical contemporary and Hamptons styling elements.
A number of the pathways needed to be reset to allow proper flow between different areas of the property. There was also very narrow side access to the rear yard that needed to be navigated accordingly.
The Outcome
A multi-purpose outdoor space that enhances the usability and kerbside appeal of the entire home.

Bringing the Hamptons to the North Shore
Step through the gates of this classic contemporary home on Sydney's Upper North Shore to discover a stylish landscape renovation that speaks to understated elegance. Starting at the front fence, rendered columns and durable charcoal aluminium palings matching the home's architecture welcome guests by foot. Walk the newly paved entry path, forging a channel through the rows of Pyrus calleryana (Capital Pear) and Buxus hedge (Japanese Box).

Freshly laid Sir Walter turf is framed by English Ivy, Vibernum Quick Fence, Mexican Sage, Murraya Hedge and Gardenia Florida (Cape Jasmine). The front garden planting scheme is capped off with a large Saucer Magnolia, Gymea Lilly, Pittosporum (Miss Muffet), Persian Shield and Star Jasmine. Offering a bold contrast of year-round greenery, with deep reds, pinks and purples against the home's neutral palette.

For the back garden makeover, a relaxed seating area looks north-east back across the open lawn towards the newly renovated home. Custom in-ground pavers bordered by Dwarf Mondo Grass seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics, while the timber fence and thriving Lilly Pilly and Magnolia Little Gem provide a natural privacy screen. Both trees can reach heights of 4 metres to create ample shade during the hotter summer months.

Corten steel edging divides the lawn and external wrap-around garden bed, housing Oriental Pearl, Tricolour Jasmine, New Zealand Rock Lilly, Silver Plum, Casuarina Glauca (Cousin It), and two large White Crepe Myrtles with plenty of room to grow and flourish.

Connecting the lush front and rear garden areas are two side access paths. One of solid coloured concrete and the other decorative concrete steppers set in river pebble. Black accent lighting is well camouflaged within the garden and brings the space to life beyond sunset, while a fully automated irrigation system reduces water waste and takes the guesswork out of managing the green-scaped elements. The final touch is the remote-controlled driveway gates, styled in lockstep with the larger front fence, keeping the front yard completely enclosed.

This Upper North Shore landscaping project brings together luxury garden design and professional landscaping, with an acute eye for detail. We can't wait to see this outdoor transformation in the latter parts of the Spring/Summer when adequate rain and sunshine has brought the diverse arrangement of flora into full bloom.
